Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery in India
Aesthetic and reconstructive procedures with an emphasis on qualified surgeons, realistic expectations and safe recovery.
Cosmetic surgery is elective, which gives you time to ask questions, compare options and choose a qualified surgeon. Reconstructive surgery has a different goal and focuses on restoring form and function after cancer, burns, injury or conditions present from birth.
Who May Need Treatment?
- Patients considering elective facial, breast, body or hair procedures.
- Patients seeking reconstructive surgery after cancer, burns, trauma or congenital conditions.
- Patients considering revision surgery after a previous procedure.
- Patients who understand the recovery period and have realistic expectations about what surgery can achieve.
Treatment Options
Face
Rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, facelift and neck lift, ear correction, chin and cheek augmentation.
Breast
Breast augmentation, reduction, lift, reconstruction after cancer surgery and treatment of gynaecomastia.
Body
Liposuction, tummy tuck, body contouring after major weight loss, arm lift and thigh lift.
Hair
FUE and FUT hair transplantation.
Non-surgical
Injectables, laser treatment and skin resurfacing.
Reconstructive
Breast reconstruction, burn scar release, post-trauma reconstruction, cleft lip and palate repair, hand surgery and microsurgical free flaps.
Why India?
India has a strong reconstructive plastic surgery tradition. Plastic surgeons train in areas such as burns, trauma, cancer reconstruction and microsurgery, alongside aesthetic procedures. Patients can also choose to stay for the recovery period rather than rushing home.
Safety and Recovery
- Rhinoplasty may require a day procedure or one night in hospital.
- Eyelid surgery is often a day procedure, while a facelift may require 1 to 2 days.
- Breast augmentation may require around one day, and a tummy tuck may require 1 to 3 days.
- Most facial and body procedures require around 2 to 3 weeks in India.
- Swelling and bruising can continue after you return home. The final result may take months to settle.
- Your surgeon should decide when you are fit to fly, especially after body surgery.
Top Hospitals and Plastic Surgery Centres
Verify the surgeon's registration, postgraduate qualification in plastic surgery, recognised professional membership and the accreditation of the facility. A qualified anaesthetist should be present for procedures requiring general anaesthesia or deep sedation.

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I fly home?
Non surgical treatments, a day or two. Liposuction or breast surgery, seven to ten days. Tummy tuck or facelift, two to three weeks. The wait lets drains and stitches come out and catches early problems while you are still here.
Will there be scars?
Yes. Every incision leaves one. Good surgeons hide them in creases, hairlines or under the breast. They look worst at about six weeks, then fade over a year or more. Darker skin scars more, so raise it early.
What if I am unhappy with the result?
Say so early rather than waiting. Much of what worries people at first is swelling and settles on its own. Surgeons rarely judge a final result before six to twelve months. Get the revision policy in writing before you book, including who pays for travel.
How long do results last?
It varies. Liposuction removes fat for good, though you can still gain weight. Implants are not lifetime devices. A facelift lasts roughly seven to ten years while ageing carries on. Botulinum lasts three to four months, fillers six to eighteen.
Are non surgical treatments risk free?
No. Injectables and lasers cause bruising, infection, burns and pigment changes. Filler can block a blood vessel and, rarely, cause blindness. Ask who is treating you, what they are qualified in, and whether they keep hyaluronidase to hand.
