Fertility treatment for international patients, including IVF, ICSI, donor treatment and fertility preservation.

Fertility treatment is planned around your age, fertility history, test results and treatment goals. The right protocol can involve one or more cycles, and some treatments may require more than one trip.

Who May Need Treatment?

  • Couples who have been trying to conceive and need assisted fertility treatment.
  • Patients who may benefit from IVF or ICSI after other fertility treatments have not worked.
  • Patients considering donor eggs or donor sperm where legally and medically appropriate.
  • Patients who want to preserve eggs, sperm or embryos before treatment that may affect fertility.

Treatment Options

  • IUI

Intrauterine insemination places prepared sperm directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation.

  • IVF and ICSI

IVF combines eggs and sperm in a laboratory. ICSI involves injecting a single sperm into an egg.

  • Genetic Testing

PGT-A and PGT-M may be considered in specific situations based on medical and genetic factors.

  • Donor Treatment

Donor egg and donor sperm cycles are available subject to Indian medical and legal requirements.

  • Frozen Embryo Transfer

Embryos can be frozen and transferred in a later cycle.

  • Fertility Preservation

Eggs, sperm, embryos and ovarian tissue can be preserved in selected cases, including before some cancer treatments.

  • Surgical Fertility Treatment

Hysteroscopy and laparoscopy may be used for conditions such as fibroids, polyps, endometriosis or blocked tubes.

Why India?

India has a regulated fertility sector, registered fertility clinics and established IVF programmes. Patients can access a range of fertility treatments and laboratory services within registered centres.

Important Legal Information

India regulates assisted reproductive technology and surrogacy under national law. International patients must meet the applicable medical and legal requirements. Surrogacy is not available to most foreign nationals without OCI status. Fertility clinics providing IVF must be registered under the applicable national registry.

Recovery and What to Expect

  • Egg collection is usually a day procedure under sedation.
  • Embryo transfer is an outpatient procedure.
  • A fresh IVF cycle may require around 2 to 3 weeks in India.
  • A freeze-all cycle with a later frozen transfer may require two trips.
  • The stimulation phase usually involves around 10 to 14 days of medication and monitoring.
  • For a fresh cycle, the male partner usually needs to be present on the day of egg collection unless sperm has been frozen in advance.

Top Fertility Clinics

Look for current registration on the National ART Registry, a strong embryology laboratory, appropriate freezing and storage protocols and access to ICSI, blastocyst culture and genetic testing when needed. The clinic should have a clear policy for frozen embryos and gametes for international patients.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many trips will I need?

Usually one, of about three to four weeks, covering stimulation, retrieval and transfer. Many clinics prefer to freeze everything and bring you back for a shorter two week visit. Some early scans can be done at home.

  • Does my partner need to travel?

For a fresh sample, yes, around the day of retrieval. If that is difficult, he can give a sample earlier and freeze it. Indian fertility rules also set consent and paperwork requirements. Curify checks these for your country first.

  • Is IVF painful?

Uncomfortable more than painful. The injections sting and the bloating is tiring. Retrieval is done under sedation so you feel nothing, with cramps for a day after. Transfer needs no anaesthetic. Most people find it hardest emotionally.

  • Can I have IVF after 40?

Yes, but go in with clear numbers. Success with your own eggs drops after 40 and miscarriage risk rises. AMH and follicle counts give you a personal estimate. Donor eggs have much higher success rates.

  • Can embryos be frozen for a later transfer?

Yes. Vitrification gives high survival on thawing, and frozen transfers do as well as fresh, sometimes better. You can try again later without another retrieval. There are yearly storage fees, so get the terms in writing.
